Ingredients
For Tuna:
½ lb of Ahi tuna
1 tsp Dried basil
1 tsp Oregano
½ tsp Santa Maria
1 tsp Creole Seasoning
1 tsp Garlic powder
¼ cup Trader Joe’s Organic Greek Olive Oil
1 tsp Dried Parsley
2-4 tbsp Butter
1 tbsp Olive Oil
For Salad Dressing:
¼ cup Trader Joe’s Organic Greek Olive Oil
Juice from ½ lemon squeezed lemon, about 1 – 1 ½ tbsps
1 tbsp Garlic powder
½ tsp Cumin
½ - 1 tsp Santa Maria seasoning
For Salad:
½ a bag (about 4 cups) Arugula
¼ cup Fresh Basil, chopped
1 cup sliced Heirloom tomatoes
¼ - ½ Sweet onion, thinly sliced
On Top of Salad:
½ - 1 cup Fresh Mozzarella, sliced
½ - ¾ Avocado
Chopped Cilantro, garnish – as much as you like
Aged balsamic *optional
Instructions
Take all the ingredients for the tuna, except for the tuna, and mix thoroughly in a bowl. Add tuna to mixture making sure it’s coated thoroughly and evenly.
Add butter and a little bit of olive oil to your frying pan and melt over medium high heat, making sure you don’t burn the butter. Then place very well coated Ahi in frying pan searing each side for 10-20 seconds max. Transfer to a plate to let it rest.
In a bowl large enough to mix a salad mix arugula, fresh basil and heirloom tomatoes along with all ingredients for the dressing blending thoroughly until everything is well coated.
Plate the salad. (In the photo I placed the arugula on the plate first then added more dressing to the tomatoes separately for a better presentation). Then place mozzarella and avocado on top.
Slice the Ahi and place on top. Garnish with cilantro and aged balsamic vinegar.
